Abstract
The horizontal displacement and the base rotation for a structural system resting on general vertical pile-raft foundation is evaluated. Two different cases for the boundary condition at the top of the pile are considered: pinned and fixed head. The effect of these displacements about the shear force in the seismic design of the structural system is analyzed. The influence on the twisting of the structure is discussed too.
